Gaudensia Simwanza, TFDA Public relation officer
Unscropulous traders of fake, substandard and expired products are warned of severe legal action as Tanzania Food and Drug Authority (TFDA) gears up for another crackdown.

Speaking to the Guardian over the weekend, TFDA Public relation officer Gaudensia Simwanza said the recent capture and disposing of harmful and banned products will continue across the country and traders are warned to observe set rules and regulations or face the law.

“The operation is on going and we shall not rest,” he pledged.
“We will drag to court all culprits found going against the law,” she said pointing out such traders stand to permanently loose their licenses.

She detailed that, currently the operation to nab these traders is in progress across Dar es Salaam, Coast and Morogoro regions ahead of the countrywide crackdown soon to start.

She reminded traders and the public that these substandard and fake products have adverse health and environmental impacts.

Consumers are reminded to carefully check labels, expiration dates and brand names ahead of purchasing any product and to contact the authority in the event of any discrepancies.
