Barely a day after Daily Nation Online highlighted the plight of a 16 year old boy whose hopes of joining Alliance High School looked set to be dashed due to lack of fees, Kenyans from all over the world have come forward pledging their support.

Moses Jembe Mrima's dream of joining one of the best schools in Kenya will now come true after more than 10 people pledged to support his schooling until university level.
A Kenyan living in Belgium called the Nation's Mombasa Bureau and promised to immediately finance Jembe's education.

“Let the boy report on school by 4th as I am sorting everything with the school. I do not want him to miss his place in the prestigious school,” said the well-wisher.
Jembe's guardian Humprey Ziro could not hide his joy when he was told the boy’s education would be catered for.

“We are happy, it is a relief to me because I was sad that my brother’s son had passed his examinations but did not know how he will complete his studies,” said the uncle when contacted by the Nation.

He said Jembe, his elder brother’s son, is an obedient boy who loves studying.
Jembe promised he would not let those who are helping him down but would continue excelling in his studies.

“Mathematics and sciences are my best subjects. I did expect to join Alliance; I had selected Alliance, Mang’u boys, Maseno and Starehe but Alliance was my first choice. I worked hard so I knew I would be selected by one of the schools. I was only afraid of the fees, and my hope were diminished,” he said.

The boy, whose role model is his uncle Mr Ziro, said he would continue praying and urged other students in similar situations never to cease praying.
“My uncle has always encouraged me to work hard despite the challenges, to pray and respect everyone. I am happy I will go to school,” he said as tears of joy streamed down his cheeks.
