Dodoma. CCM has outlined seven
reforms, including establishment of a Tanganyika Parliament, in a bid to
push for its stance on the current Union structure.
In a 22-page dossier compiled after the Central
Committee and National Executive Committee meetings held earlier this
month, the party appears to suggest the revival of the “Tanzania
Mainland Parliament”. Tanzania Mainland is not officially recognised in
the current Union setup, which comprises the Union and Zanzibar
governments.
The party’s new suggestion will be seen as a tact
to circumvent a proposal in the second Draft Constitution of a three
government system.
However, yesterday, CCM publicity secretary Nape Nnauye denied the existence of such a dossier from the party.
He said, proposals from the two top party organs only gave a stand regarding which type of government system to support.
“What we’re doing now is to draft our proposals
for improvement of the two government system. This work has not been
finalised,” Nape said in a telephone interview.
