A
Turkish business delegation has called upon Tanzanian business
institutions to come up with partnerships that would enable them to
exploit investment opportunities that are available in the latter
country.
The delegation is in the country for a seven-day tour to seek business partnerships and investment opportunities.
The businessmen were invited in the country by the Alliance of Businessmen and Industrialists of Tanzania and Turkey (ABITAT) in collaboration with the Turkish embassy.
Speaking at a meeting between the delegation and local businessmen in Dar es Salaam yesterday, the board member of Marifed (Turkish Association), Ridran Uzisn said the aim of the visit is to meet several Tanzanian businessmen, private and public organisations officials in order to help them know better the available Turkish investment opportunities and also seek partnerships.
Uzisn said the delegation will be in the country up to January 20 whereby it will visit different areas and have the opportunity to showcase its business activities.
He mentioned some of the areas they would like to invest in as oil and gas, steel building systems, mining, construction, beverages, furniture, automatic spare parts and the new sectors.
“We want Turkish companies to open up the doors for investment in Tanzania so as to make partnership with our fellow businessmen,” he said, adding that they have chosen Tanzania because of the investment condition.
He said they are also opening up doors for Tanzanian businessmen and companies to invest in Turkey as there are many opportunities.
For her part, the Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office (Investment and Empowerment), Dr Mary Nagu assured them that the government will continue to allocate more areas for investments as a strategy to widen its tax base and help to attain sustainable development.
“Business relations between Turkey and Tanzania have been increasing as days go by where we are seeing more businessmen from the Asian country wanting to invest in our country,” Dr Nagu noted.
She said that it is high time Turkey imported products from Tanzania as the former country was already exporting to the latter.
However, Dr Nagu advised Turkey businessmen to form partnerships with their Tanzanian counterparts so as to enable them to invest in the former country.
ABITAT President Ali Akkiz said that the two countries have a lot to learn from each other but only if they form partnership.
