Let’s drop archaic methods for great, meaningful 2014

A new year has begun. We have gone through highs and lows both in the business and financial world and have known about people who displayed good business sense and changed our world view.

We have shared jokes, exchanged impactful constructive criticism and wept. But we dream of making it in the world of financial freedom.

Some people set business targets for the coming year while some do not know what we want from our daily jobs. Others will close shop and go back to the drawing board, others might file for bankruptcy or come to terms with insolvency.

Nonetheless, we hope to run a profitable business, making a positive and impactful change in the hearts of many and improving our standards of living without having to live in constant fear.

Contrary to the belief that the Number 13 is evil and brings bad fortune, I believe it is a number full of promise and comes with abundant blessings.

The business world and inventions of 2013 were interesting; inventions that have harnessed a business methodology to fight poverty and improve standards of living around the world.

What tickled my fancy include the adrenaline-pumping Mission R — an electric mean machine motorcycle with the speed of 240km/hour and a range of approximately 230km/hour.

Microchip pill

Those with a need for speed can start setting money aside for a thrill of a lifetime. The exciting Oculus Rift — a pair of virtual reality headsets that will put a gamer in the game itself — and the best thing about this headset is it will be affordable in less than two years with an estimated price of 100 dollars.

The controversial edible password microchip pill is triggered by stomach acids to emit a signal that can be detected by your phone or computer, subsequently making your body a password

The creative 3Doodler pen that instantly creates free standing drawings on coloured plastics, making it almost impossible to contain a creative mind with endless possibilities
The artificial memories and pancreas all fall under one creative business invention.

Through research and advanced technology, scientists can erase bad memories or trigger happy memories, especially for persons suffering from depression- or trauma-related stress.

As for the latter, it can detect sugar levels in the diabetic and act like a real pancreas.

These inventions not only make monetary sense but are created by entrepreneurs with the guts to harness business to make the world a better place.

Last year also lost great individuals and business moguls like the wealthy businessman and philanthropist Edgar Bronfman Sr., the handsome star of the Fast and Furious Paul Walker, Diane Disney Miller, the daughter of Walt Disney.
