Nandi Hills MP Alfred Keter has vowed to hand over evidence showing improprieties in the railway contract to the parliamentary committees investigating the matter.
The MP however maintained that he is not acting on behalf of anybody and dismissed allegations that he is a puppet for local businessmen representing Chinese firms.

While insisting that he “is not in any way opposed” to the construction of the standard gauge railway, the MP said the cost of the project has been inflated by unscrupulous officials in government.
“I have not been summoned to appear (before the Public Investments Committee). I am the one who requested to appear in PIC,” he said.

He was speaking to journalists at Continental House on Friday in what appeared to be a response to his United Republican Party leader William Ruto, the Deputy President.
Mr Ruto on Wednesday described Mr Keter as “a stooge for somebody.”

But Mr Keter said he is only opposed to what he calls a flawed process which lacks due diligence. He also claimed that the cost per kilometre is inflated.
