Nakumatt opens seventh outlet in Uganda, eyes bigger market share

Regional retailer, Nakumatt, has opened it seventh outlet in Uganda as it seek to increase its footprint in the regional market.

This move comes after the company in October opened another branch in Katwe, an area with a mixed segment of consumers in terms of income in the same country.

A statement from the firm indicates that the company has invested Sh176.4 billion ($ 2.1Million) in the stall which is located near the Entebbe International Airport.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Nakumatt Uganda country manager Bernard Mutua said that the opening of the store is also geared towards raising Entebbe’s growing profile as a regional commercial town.

“At Nakumatt, we are keen to promote regional integration ideals by establishing world-class retail stores in all major Uganda towns,” said Mutua.

VALUE-ADDED SERVICES
The new Nakumatt Entebbe hosts a variety of value-added services including a bakery, butchery and hot food deli.

In Kenya, the largest retail chain in East Africa has booked space in the upcoming Shujaa Mall in Nairobi’s Donholm estate located in the expansive and highly populated Eastlands area.
Still in Uganda, Nakumatt supermarket has lined up yet another branch opening at Kisementi on the outskirts of Kampala at the upcoming Acacia Mall.
