More than 70 Kenyans fleeing chaos in South Sudan are expected in the country on Tuesday.
Senior Director of Administration in the Ministry of Devolution and Planning Hassan Noor said the first group of Kenyans totalling 33 are expected to arrive on a Dash 8 aircraft at Wilson Airport at 12:20pm.

Speaking to Nation by phone, Mr Noor said a Kenya Air Force Buffalo plane is to bring another group of 40 Kenyans at 12:30pm.

He said the Kenyans were either doing business in South Sudan or working there and that they would be evacuated from Juba.

“I will receive the group on behalf of Ministry of Devolution and Planning Cabinet Secretary Anne Waiguru,” Mr Noor said.

He said the government was still receiving data of Kenyans in South Sudan to bring them home safely.

According to Mr Noor, the Kenyans returning home were counselled and offered refreshments on arrival.

“Initially, we were flying food and water to South Sudan,” Mr Noor said.
