Hotel to open Sh700m pool villas at Diani

A south coast hotel is set to unveil Sh700 million luxurious pool villas featuring various facilities during the festive season.

The unique residences which are owned by Leopard Beach Resort and Spa in Diani, Kwale County comprise 28 upmarket villas with each having a private swimming area.

Construction of the facility on a 15-acre indigenous forest within the resort kicked off in December 2011 with 17 of them expected to be opened to tourists during this holiday season.

According to the hotel’s director, Mr Chris Modigell, the pool villas concept was borrowed from Thailand.

He said the aim of the hotel management was to introduce the unique product to the Kenyan tourism sector targeting holiday makers from both the domestic and regional markets.
The hotelier said the villas are ideal for families, friends and people from across the East African region since they are spacious and exclusive.

Mr Modigell said the residences offer four types of villas which are modern with spacious design, privacy and security, setting a benchmark for the country.

BENCHMARKS OF LUXURY
They include 11 three-bedroom pool villas with a total of 390 square metre living area and 60 square metre private pools.

Others are six three-bedroom forest villas with a total 250 square metre living area and a 17 square metre private plunge pool.

There are also six two-bedroom pool villas with a total of 235 metre square living area and 45 square metre private pool, and five two-bedroom forest villas with a total of 190 square metre living area and a 17 square metre private plunge pool.

“We resolved to introduce the pool villa concept in Kenya to give local and regional tourists, choice of privacy and luxury with all the conveniences of a full service hotel,” he said.

“The villas are a perfect place for the gathering of family and friends to enjoy their leisure holidays in an exclusive environment,” he added.

The three bedroom villas can accommodate up to six people with each bedroom featuring an individually controlled AC and fan, a 46-inch flat screen television with satellite channels, a walk-in dressing room, large bathrooms with rain showers, shaving mirror and hair drier.
The master bedroom has a large jacuzzi and a separate bidet.

Other facilities and amenities include living room with spacious couch seating and a 51-inch flat screen television, satellite and DVD player, a large dining area with eight seats, a separate cloakroom and Wi-Fi connectivity.

At least four people can be accommodated in the two bedroom villas which feature one-king size and twin bedroom.

The two bedroom forest villas have bathtubs en-suite.
They also have facilities and amenities just like those of the three bedroom villas.

In addition, all pool villas feature an out-door pool-side gazebo for dining and entertaining, a pool terrace with sun-lounges, a seating area and separate out-door shower facilities.
The fully furnished villas are available either on self-catering or on bed and breakfast basis.
