Former Capital Markets Authority chief executive Stella Kilonzo has been appointed as a divisional manager at the African Development Bank (AfDB).

The continental lender on Tuesday announced Ms Kilonzo’s appointment to head the financial sector development division.

Ms Kilonzo was until her appointment the founder and CEO of Astute Capital, a firm she started in September last year after her resignation from the regulatory body in June.

Attempts to get a comment from her were unsuccessful as her phone did not go through.

Ms Kilonzo had also since her resignation been appointed as a non-executive member on the boards of Athi River Mining and UBA Bank.

An alumnus of Catholic University and Loyola University of Chicago, USA, Ms Kilonzo is also a director at the East Africa Exchange.

She also serves on the National Economic and Social Council of Kenya and as a member of the World Economic Forum Global Agenda Council on Global Financial System.

CMA is yet to get a substantive chief executive since her resignation more than a year ago.

AfDB has a membership of 77 countries of which 24 are non-African states.
