Ford-Kenya party leader Moses Wetang’ula
has accused his Amani party counterpart Musalia Mudavadi of causing
confusion among leaders who want to unite the Luhya.
The
opposition leader told Mr Mudavadi, who is a former deputy Prime
Minister, to stop wasting time in Luhya politics because he “squandered
his opportunity” to lead the nation.
The Coalition for Reforms and Democracy co-principal said: “Mr Mudavadi seems to have forgotten so fast the way he was called shetani (devil)
by Jubilee leaders before the elections. He has forgotten how he was
crying on television claiming to have been short-changed. No one can
give you the country’s leadership on a silver platter,” he said.
WAR OF WORDS
The
Amani coalition leader began a war of words with the Cord leadership
after he realised that he was politically obsolete regionally and
nationally, Mr Wetang’ula claimed.
“He
is seeking relevance by engaging us in unnecessary war of words. We are
going to totally ignore him,” he said at a campaign rally at Mateka in
Bumula constituency
Mr Wetang’ula is the Cord candidate in the December 19 Bungoma senatorial by-election.
Mr Wetang’ula is the Cord candidate in the December 19 Bungoma senatorial by-election.
He said it was shameful for Mr Mudavadi to attack former Prime Minister Raila Odinga without a reason.
His
opponent in the by-election, former Webuye MP Musikari Kombo yesterday
traversed Mt Elgon region for votes a day after independent candidate
David Makali camped in the constituency.
Addressing
residents at stop-overs in Toywandet, Kapkateny, Chemwesus, Kaptama and
Kaposkwony, Mr Kombo told the residents to turn out in large numbers and
on the election day.
He was accompanied by area MP
John Serut, New Ford-Kenya leader Eugene Wamalwa and Webuye West MP Dan
Wanyama, who said that the voters were denied their choice in March.
