Court upholds decision to sack NSSF boss

Former National Social Security Fund (NSSF) boss Tom Odongo has been sent home after the Industrial court upheld Labour Cabinet Secretary Kazungu Kambi's decision to sack him.

The court declined an application to reinstate Tom Odongo as the managing trustee pending the hearing and determination of a case filed against Mr Kambi and the NSSF board of trustees.
Mr Odongo had challenged his sacking in court, stating that he was irregularly and unlawfully removed from office.

The former NSSF chief was sacked from the giant retirement benefits scheme in a July 22 letter by Mr Kambi just after he launched campaigns to introduce a new social welfare scheme for Kenyan employers.

The proposed scheme had been heavily criticised by private pension schemes in the countr
