Two university students have been arrested on suspicion that they are part of a syndicate selling examination papers.
Mumias police boss George Seda said the two are from Eldoret and Kenyatta universities.
The two have been soliciting money from headteachers in exchange of the allegedly leaked examination papers. “The two were found with soft copies of the leaked secondary school final examination paper, that was to be sent to targeted schools,” said Mr Seda.
A teacher had earlier been sent a Kiswahili Paper II examination by an anonymous person.
He reported the matter to the police, prompting investigations that led to the arrest of the suspects in Mumias and Eldoret. “We tracked the number and traced one suspect at Ekero trading centre. She is a Kenyatta University student,” said Mr Seda.
“After interrogation, she directed us to the second suspect in Eldoret who was later apprehended and found with several examination soft copies,” he said.
The two are to be charged with unlawful possession of examination papers
