The Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (Cord) will fight any move to bar Ford Kenya chairman Moses Wetang’ula from participating in the Bungoma senatorial by-election.
Kakamega County Governor Wycliffe Oparanya said the Cord alliance will use all means at its disposal to recapture the seat that Mr Wetang’ula lost after the High Court nullified his victory.
Speaking at Khwisero grounds, Mr Oparanya said Cord will campaign for Mr Wetang’ula in Bungoma County.
“Whether or not Wetang’ula vies in the eagerly awaited by-election, Cord will triumph at the end of the day,” said Mr Oparanya.
He accused the Jubilee government of plotting to scuttle Mr Wetangula’s chances of recapturing to deal Cord a major political blow.
President Uhuru Kenyatta’s ruling administration, he alleged, was discriminative in the way it continues to handle public appointments is a skewed manner.
“We must remain focused and give Cord leader
Raila Odinga another chance come 2017 with hope that he will implement
the alliance’s manifesto that captures the interests and aspirations of
all Kenyans,” said Mr Oparanya.
