Regional retailer, Nakumatt Holdings has
confirmed plans to resume near normal operations at its Nakumatt Ukay
branch Saturday morning, Nakumatt Holdings Managing Director Mr Atul
Shah has said.
The branch located at Ukay Centre, along Nairobi’s Mwanzi-Ring Road in Parklands area of Westlands will re-open at 8:30am and will continue running its 24hour services.
Speaking when he confirmed the scheduled reopening of the branch, Mr Shah said the reopening of the store is aimed at supporting the on-going national healing efforts following the Westgate Shopping Mall terrorist attack last Saturday.
Mr Shah extended his sympathies to Westgate Mall patrons who were caught up in the terrorist attack which he termed as a heinous and cowardly atrocity.
He reiterated Nakumatt's commitment in supporting efforts to ensure the speedy restoration of business and social services following the attack.
“As a corporate citizen that is aware of the world we are living in, we shall not tire to condemn in the strongest terms possible, acts of terrorism wherever they occur.
However, one thing we can all take from this experience is that alertness and security are the responsibility of all of us,” he said.
Due to the
closure of the access road from Peponi Road through to Mwanzi Road,
customers are advised to access Ukay Centre from the Ring Road-Parklands
route.
