In Summary
Kitutu Chache MP Richard Onyonka said the Kisii were completely ignored while Kitutu Masaba MP Timothy Bosire said the Jubilee Government did not reflect the face of Kenya as it was dominated by two tribes, leaving out other communities.

Gem MP Jakoyo Midiwo fired the first salvo when he claimed Jubilee leaders had started weeding out civil servants from communities that were considered Cord strongholds.

Cord leaders in Nyanza on Friday accused the Jubilee Government of discriminating against certain communities in public appointments.

Gem MP Jakoyo Midiwo fired the first salvo when he claimed Jubilee leaders had started weeding out civil servants from communities that were considered Cord strongholds. He claimed that Mr Charles Ayiecko was recently sacked because he was a Luo.

“Four other senior employees from Luo community were sacked from the NSSF in similar circumstances. We ask the Jubilee leaders to treat all Kenyans fairly in public appointments as stipulated in the Constitution or we will face them head on,” Mr Midiwo said.

Kitutu Chache MP Richard Onyonka said the Kisii were completely ignored while Kitutu Masaba MP Timothy Bosire said the Jubilee Government did not reflect the face of Kenya as it was dominated by two tribes, leaving out other communities.

He said a number of civil servants from the region, including former Information permanent secretary Bitange Ndemo had been sacked on political grounds.

Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, however, steered clear of the issue of appointments, saying instead that he was steadfast in his push for allocation of more cash to the counties.

He said that unless the allocation was increased from the current 15 per cent to 40 per cent, many counties would be cash-strapped.

Mr Odinga added that failure to reform the provincial administration had caused confusion since two parallel structures were running at the county level.

The leaders were speaking during the homecoming party of North Mugirango MP Charles Geni at Nyamusi Primary School, Nyamira County.
