The Nation Media Group and the Kenya Institute
of Management will offer small and medium enterprises an opportunity to
share their business models while learning from each other on the best
practices.
The two are hosting a business conference on
competitiveness of African enterprises, which started on Monday. The
conference is meant to prepare the entries for the 2013 Company of the
Year Awards (Coya)
.
.
Small and medium enterprises will, through the
conference, learn on the theoretical and practical aspects of
organisation performance index, criteria that was introduced in 2010 to
rank companies participating in the Coya awards.
Speaking when the announcement was made, NMG chief
executive Linus Gitahi said organisation performance index will help
participants to improve and compete with other companies globally.
“It is a tool that will help organisations, especially small and medium enterprises to develop their effectiveness,” he said.
The tool had helped the NMG improve its various departments, the CEO added.
“We believe that it will also help other companies to grow and that explains why we will continue supporting the exercise in the coming year,” Mr Gitahi said.
Corporate identity
NMG is financing the conference with Sh700,000 and will be supported by Crown Paints (Sh250,000) and corporate identity marketer Design One, which has put in Sh150,000.
Organisation performance index measures businesses
leadership and management, human resource and welfare of employees,
customer orientation and marketing, financial management, innovation and
use of technology and corporate social responsibility.
