TPSF urged to sustain support in strengthening businesses

Members of the Tanzania Private Sector Foundation (TPSF) in the Southern Highland regions have urged their leaders to continue supporting them in their efforts to build a strong voice for the country’s development.

Speaking at a one-day seminar organised by TPSF for the members in the zone, Julius Kaijage, chairman of the Tanzania Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Agriculture Chairman (TCCIA) in Mbeya Region underscored the need for TPSF to sustain its established efforts of strengthening the private sector in the country.

At the meeting in Mbeya Region, Kaijage stressed the need for the private sector to have stable leadership so as to be able to penetrate its agenda to businessmen.

“Give a critical eye on how small businesses operate and help them out of their challenges,” he said.

Contributing, another member, Godfrey Mosha argued other members to support TPSF efforts saying it is the only way they can present their demands under one strong umbrella.

“I commend TPSF for being in the right path in dealing with emerging issues facing the private sector,” he said, adding that all members should join hands with the organisation at regional and district levels in order to achieve their goals.

The government should give more support to the private sector so that it operates business without interference, he added.

“The government should strive to create a more conducive environment for the sector,” he said.

Speaking earlier, TPSF Executive Director Godfrey Simbeye said youths and women are priority groups in the country’s development endeavours and that a strategy to develop them is the core of the foundation’s agenda.

The one day seminar that took place in Mbeya City also involved members from other Southern Highland regions of Iringa, Rukwa, Njombe, Katavi and Ruvuma.
