Minister for Labour and Employment, Gaudensia Kabaka

TheMinister for Labour and Employment, Gaudensia Kabaka has underscored the need for pension funds to serve their members diligently so as to attract more members to join the Fund in this era of competition.
The Minister made the remarks in her key note address when closing a two-day Public Service Pension Fund’s annual meeting in Dar es Salaam over the weekend.

“I have been attending various meetings organised by Pension Funds in the country so as to learn more on their functions and how they serve their members,” she said.

The Minister said she was overwhelmed by the attendance of so many members from across the country and urged PSPF to continue with efforts of involving their members in their undertakings.

She further urged the management to continue with their efforts of collecting money and investing in various development projects for the welfare of their members.

“I assure you that I have taken all suggestions and requests to the government and my ministry will do whatever possible to act on those recommendations in time,” she said.

Minister Kabaka urged PSPF management to use the media outlets to disseminate information about the Fund to its members so as to avoid misunderstandings.

“Sell your services through advertisements so that many people are attracted to join the Fund out of their own will,” she said.

She also urged Social Security Regulatory Authority (SSRA) to involve all its stakeholders, hear their views and act on their suggestions.

On his part, George Yambesi, the PSPF Chairman said the purpose of organising such a meeting was to educate its members on how PSPF functions and ensure them that their money is safe.

“We have received so many feedbacks from our members and we are going to act on them immediately,” said Yambesi.
