BoT is best employees` pension submitting para

Bank of Tanzania (BoT) has emerged the overall winner of this year's Parastatal Providential Fund award for being the best employer in submitting employees’ monthly contributions.

Deputy Finance minister Saada Mkuya Salum presented the awards yesterday, at the ongoing 22nd annual PPF members' conference taking place here.

BoT received a standing ovation from the PPF members, who gathered at the Arusha International Conference Center (AICC), after being announced the overall winner.

The central bank, get won the award for timely remitting workers' contributions to pension schemes as well as putting in place proper procedures for its employees to get their terminal benefit without any delay after being retired.

The bank whose the primary objective is to formulate, define and implement monetary policy, directed to the economic objective of maintaining domestic price stability, conducive to a balanced and sustainable growth of the national economy of Tanzania, was described to be the best bank in 2012 in remitting its workers' contribution to the fund promptly.

In categories, CRDB bank took the second position in the PPF's outstanding employer's award after BoT.

Other winners include the Tanzania Food and Nutrition Center (TFNC), which took the lead in the category of agriculture, followed by Rufiji Basin Development Authority (Rubada).

Kahama Mining emerged the winner in the mining category followed by State Mining Corporation (Tanzania). For the transport, communication and energy category Swissport took the lead followed by Energy and Water Regulatory Authority (Ewura).

Others are Makumira University and Tanzania Education Authority (Education and Training), National Institute for Medical Research (NIMR) and The African Medical and Research Foundation (AMREF)  (Health), Contractors Registration Board (CRB) and Konoike Tanzania (Construction),  Tanzania Cigarette Company (TCC) and Serengeti Breweries (Industry and Trade), Multichoice Tanzania  and Tanzania News Standard (Media), Research Triangle Institute and Tanzania Re-Insurance Corporation (Other services).
