Protests over the arrest of five legislators from Narok for “incitement” left one person injured and paralysed business in and around the town Thursday morning.
Angry youths clashed with police officers in Narok town and nearby trading centres, including Ewaso Ngiro and Katakala, as they continued to block key roads, including the Narok-Masai Mara road used to access the world-famous game reserve.
Hundreds of tourists were inconvenienced by the protest.
Other roads where disruption was reported include the Narok-Bomet highway and the Narok-Mai Mahiu road.
The demonstrators were seeking the release of Senator Stephen ole Ntutu and National Assembly MPs Moitalel Kenta (Narok North), Korei Lemein (Narok South), Patrick Ntutu (Narok West) and Johanna Ngeno (Emurua Dikirr)
The five were held in Nairobi on Wednesday evening, two days after leading violent demonstrations that left two people dead and several others injured.
The legislators were arraigned at the Milimani Law Court and were released on personal bonds of Sh500,000 each.
The case will next be heard on February 13.
