On Sunday evening, Big Brother Africa fans will be glued to their
screens to watch the first live eviction show. Tanzania’s Levada was
chosen as the winner of the talent contest last week, making her the
Head of House.
Therefore, she is the only one immune from being evicted this week. The remaining 25 housemates, including our very own Frankie Joe and Arthur, now need our votes to stay in and get closer to the grand prize of $300,000.
This is Rwanda’s debut on the show and its participation did not come easily. Days leading to the official opening of the show, Rwanda was dropped because of “logistical constraints”. The show was also postponed due to a fire which gutted the BBA house.
This week, Society Magazine asked some viewers of the reality show about who they thought would be the first to get evicted and why.
Mimi Kirabo, Procurement officer
I think one of the Ugandan girls are leaving, probably Ella because
she is almost not heard anywhere in the house. She is boring and trying
too hard to be a diva.
Mariam K Ndagire, Cashier
Based on what I see, the Uganda girl Ellah could be evicted first because she is kind of boring. Ellah spends most of her time playing a guitar and she doesn’t interact with fellow housemates. This affects her game in the show so she could get evicted first if she continues to play like that.
Lee Ndayisaba, Media consultant
Kenya’s Melvin Alusa might be among the first housemates to be evicted from the Big Brother Hotshots house on Sunday because he looks phony. If he survives this week, maybe Africa understands him and he could go further than expected. On the other hand, I think our representative Arthur Nkusi is holding back a bit too much. Maybe because I know him, but I think he needs no effort in impressing Africa—he’s a talented entertainer and, he has to know that the competition is stiff.
Ayodele Ilori, Sports journalist
Personally, I will pick Nigeria’s Lilian as the first housemate to be
evicted because at a very early stage of the show, she uses sex as a
strategy. It does not work based on the steps of tension. Remember as a
housemate, you lead your viewers on and let them salivate and crave to
see more of you. I believe Africa has seen enough of her so she may be
voted out first.
Derbie Umuliza, Real estate broker
I watched the interviews before they entered the house and it was all I needed to tell who will not survive in that house. I bet anything that Esther girl from Uganda is going to get evicted. I find her completely irritating and all over the place. There is no way Africa can find her entertaining and this Sunday, she will be on her back to Uganda.
MC Tino, KFM journalist
I think it is still too early to know which housemate is real,
entertaining or boring. But I can predict that one of these housemates,
Trezagah from Mozambique, Esther of Uganda, Alusa from Kenya and
Malawi’s Sipe will be evicted on Sunday. I don’t think these guys
realise that this is a competition and viewers have to decide which
contestant to keep in the game. They’re fake and boring. They should
bring the best out of themselves or else they won’t stay long in Big
Brother Hotshots.

Well, honestly I have not known all the names of the contestants, but
I don’t think Frankie Joe is doing well so far. Unfortunately, if he
doesn’t improve he might be booted out of the show sooner than later.
Frank Abaho, Communications specialist
Well, personally I was proved wrong already. I thought Arthur was
going to do so well and Frankie would be hated because of his ‘not so
African accent’ but over the past two days, I think Arthur will be
evicted first. People will get fed up of the recycled jokes.
Frankie has a strategy; he is building a relationship with the other lady (I forget her name) and with his well built body, women (majority of viewers of BBA are female) will get him some admiring votes. So those are split votes for Rwanda which affect both participants. Arthur stands to lose in the end, I predict Arthur to get evicted first but Frankie will also not stay for long. If I was him, I would get over the western accent and speak some Kinyarwanda and Luganda (to win the Ugandan votes as well) because his American accent won’t win him votes from the East Africans.
Gilbert Ndoli, Medical doctor
I think JJ from Zimbabwe will be evicted on Sunday because he cries a
lot and, he is always everywhere. This guy doesn’t even act normal.
Alex K Mupende , E-commerce executive
It’s too early in the game to tell who Africa will save but my
fingers are crossed that Arthur and Frank wake up in the house on
Monday.
Lillian Mutanganzwa, Actress
I think that Rwandan hotshot Frankie Joe will be evicted from the Big Brother house this Sunday because he is not mingling with the housemates. In my view the guy looks home sick as he wanders around the house. I guess the viewers are not impressed with his lukewarm performance.
Aaron Mugambi, Physiotherapist
None should be evicted. They haven’t shown their true colours as yet.
Pretence still lingers everywhere! At least they should be given one
more week and then even evict two at ago.
Chris Agaba, Phone engineer
I have never really understood the fuss with this show. I mean how long can you watch people chilling in a house before you get bored? I only watch the show because my wife watches it, religiously! Otherwise I really can’t tell. I just hope that our boys pull through till the last possible second.
Francis Iraguha, Fashion designer
My opinion is that South African hotshot Nlanhla will be up for
eviction this coming Sunday. However he may use his charm to sweet talk
the head of house Laveda.
