Majaliwa to grace 42nd Dar trade fair

By DAILY NEWS Reporter

PRIME Minister Kassim Majaliwa (pictured) will officially inaugurate the 42nd Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair (DITF) exhibitions popularly known as Sabasaba on Monday. The annual fair, which attracts myriad of local and international exhibitors, will run from June 28 to July 13, this
year at Mwalimu Julius Nyerere Trade Fair grounds along Kilwa Road in Dar es Salaam.
Industry, Trade and Investment Minister Charles Mwijage said at the ongoing DITF in Dar es Salaam, yesterday, that the PM will inaugurate the exhibitions by performing three activities namely launching of special business clinic, guidelines for establishing industries from the village to the regional levels and handing over 2,400 tractors to several regions.
“The activities to be launched by the PM support the theme for this year’s Dar Trade Fair, ‘Trade Promotion for Industrial Growth’ aiming at promoting industrial development,” he said. The business clinic to be launched by the PM aims at diagnosing hurdles that have been impeding business growth.
In this business clinic, various business and economics specialists from the universities of Dar es Salaam and Dodoma will attend business people at various levels, to identify various problems hindering business growth and development.
The special clinic is an important platform aimed at rescuing businesses from collapsing due to recessions, high taxation, high interest rates, excessive regulations, poor management decisions and insufficient marketing.
Mr Mwijage said that the PM will launch guidelines for establishing industries from the village, ward, district and regional levels. It will provide roadmap on how best resources in the respective areas may be utilized for industrial development.
Over 2,900 exhibitors have already been registered for the 42nd edition of the DITF that rolled-out on Thursday. Countries participating in this year’s trade fair have increased to 33 from 30 last year. He said small and mediumsized entrepreneurs are encouraged to participate in the fair, to showcase their products and services through the international business forum.
TanTrade in collaboration with global community is organising business to business meetings from July 4th to 6th for dairy, vegetable and fruits and poultry products carrying sub-theme of empowering agri-business to access regional market.
The meetings organised last year during the 41st DITF facilitated agri-producers to sign non-binding contracts with buyers but in the 42nd trade fair the meetings are expected to bring more meaningful business deals and connections.
The planned business to business meetings expected to attract more than 500 producers, will be a platform to link agri producers with various services providers along the value chain.
