PRESIDENT John Magufuli has revoked the appointment of Tanzania Investment Centre (TIC) Executive Director, Ms Juliet Kairuki, and appointed Mr Clifford Tandari as Acting Executive Director.
The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry
of Industry, Trade and Investment (Trade and Investment), Professor
Adolf Mkenda, said in a statement issued in Dar es Salaam that the
president revoked the appointment on April 24 this year.
It further stated that, the decision was
taken by President Magufuli after being informed that Ms Kairuki had
not taken her salary since April 2013 when she was appointed to date,
something which raises many questions.
If Ms Kairuki will be willing to work
with the government, she will be assigned to other duties, the statement
added. Ms Kairuki holds Bachelor and Master’s degrees in Law with
expertise in Public Private Partnership.
Between 2002 and 2008, she was the
Manager for Public Private Partnership Capacity Building project in
SADC, the Banking Association South Africa. From 2008 to 2013, she was
the General Manager for Banking Department and Financial Services in the
same bank.
A graduate of the School of Economics at
Australia’s University of England, Mr Tandari has worked in the
Ministry of Finance and Planning and the Planning Commission. At the
Treasury, Mr Tandari has been assistant director while at the planning
commission; he was Deputy Executive Secretary – International Trade and
Economic Relations
