THE National Muslim Council of Tanzania (BAKWATA) in Dar es Salaam Region has advised Civic United Front (CUF) to participate in the new polls slated for March 20, this year.

Salaam had also agreed with the decision of ZEC to conduct fresh
election.
According to Sheikh Salum, the leader of
an Islamic propagation group popularly known as UAMSHO, Sheikh Farid
Hadi Ahmed, has also agreed with the decision of ZEC to conduct fresh
polls.
“This is according to his letter sent to
me from prison, Sheikh Farid has seen the importance of the matter that
has big impact on people of Zanzibar. We (BAKWATA in the region),agreed
with the decision made by ZEC to repeat polls slated for March 20 which
was nullified due to a number of reasons.
“The decision of repeat polls was the
only solution of resolving the ongoing crisis as there is no other way
to solve the problem” he argued. Sheikh Salum further urged all
opposition political parties in Zanzibar to stop boycotting the re-run
election and start reorganizing themselves for the fresh polls.
“We ask ZEC to manage well the exercise
by observing all rules and regulations, in order to make free and fair
election, for the benefits of Zanzibar and its people,” he said. He also
urged all people in Zanzibar to make sure they were maintaining the
prevailing peace and harmony.
Meanwhile, Sheikh Salum also asked the
government to find ways of resolving some challenges that were being
faced in Dar es Salaam including congestion in the city that affects
economy of the country.
“Due to such challenge, we ask the
government to speed up the implementation the Dar es Salaam Rapid
Transit Agency (DART) project which is expected to decongest the city.
BAKWATA in Dar es Salaam Region has also
applauded President John Magufuli for his efforts to reduce some
expenditures of the government and improve social services such as
education, health and water.
