Mr Kalobelo urged all institutions to
get connected with the cable through Tanzania Telecommunications Company
Limited (TTCL) so as to make better the way they communicate at low
costs.
The engineer was inspecting the putting
up of the cable and later spoke to stakeholders in the region in efforts
of learning challenges facing the exercise. Mr Kalobelo said that
generally the exercise is going on well all over the country and the
government wishes to see that citizens benefit from it in urban and
rural areas so as to match with the era of science and technology.
He said that once the exercise is
completed, it will be easy for students and all other people to use the
services which will include internet and quick access to other forms of
communication.
The engineer noted that many rural areas
have been experiencing problems in communications, so the ministry has
decided to set up a fund that would enable individuals in rural areas to
have good access to communication.
He pointed out some of the challenges
encountered as poor network reception in some rural areas which forces
some users to opt on making calls on top of trees or hilly areas where
they claim network can be found.
Engineer Kalobelo assured stakeholders
that the government intends to make sure these challenges become a
history because communication services are the right of everybody.
He said the fund through TTCL will be
used to ensure remote areas are well connected and that mobile phones
would be made available at low prices in rural areas.
Acting Moshi Municipal Council Executive
Director, Mr Jesh Lupembe said his office will cooperate with TTCL to
see to it that the work is completed and then make use of the service
for the interest of Moshi residents. Mr Lupembe assured the engineer and
the government at large that the council will safeguard the
infrastructure.
