VICE President Dr Philip Mpango has emphasized the need for cooperation between all sectors of society to effectively address environmental degradation.

Speaking during World Environment Day celebrations in Dodoma on Wednesday, Dr Mpango stressed the importance of collaboration between the government, non-governmental organizations, the private sector, artists, religious institutions, traditional leaders and the general public.

The ceremony was attended by high-ranking officials, including Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa, Minister of State in the Office of the Vice President (Union and Environment) Dr Seleman Jafo, Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly Mussa Zungu and environmental conservation advocates.

"Only through concerted efforts can we hope to reduce and ultimately eliminate the environmental challenges facing our nation," he said.

To underscore this commitment to collaboration, Dr Mpango presented special awards to various stakeholders.

The companies were recognized for their significant contributions to environmental conservation. In addition to recognizing the efforts of environmental stakeholders, Dr Mpango urged local authorities to promote industries that specialise in transforming waste into reusable products. He also called on citizens and the private sector to embrace opportunities in waste collection and recycling.

"By working together, we can create a cleaner, healthier and more sustainable Tanzania for generations to come," he said
