Government to buy livestock to mitigate drought effects

The government now says it will buy and slaughter livestock in some of the drought affected counties as one of its drought mitigation measures, to avert losses to farmers. The animals bought under the emergency government off-take are meant to provide relief meat to drought-stricken families and also lessens the burden of pastoralists' searching for pasture and water.
