PRESIDENT John Magufuli is today scheduled to commence an eight day official tour of the Lake Zone regions.
A statement issued by the Directorate of Presidential Communications said that the president will visit Mwanza, Mara and Simiyu regions.

It said that during his tour, president Magufuli will lay foundation stones and inaugurate various development projects and address members of the public.
After winding up his tour of the Lake Zone regions, the president is also expected to visit Southern Highlands regions, namely Katavi, Rukwa, Songwe and Mbeya.
The timetable for the president’s visit will be announced later. Meanwhile, the president is expected to grace the Urithi Festival, ‘Celebrating Our Heritage’ at Jamhuri Stadium in Dodoma on September 15 this year.
Speaking to journalists on Friday in Dodoma, Natural Resources and Tourism Deputy Minister, Mr Japhet Hasunga said the festival aimed at honouring, entertaining and educating on important issues related to Tanzania’s heritage, especially the traditions, history, antiquities and natural resources.
Mr Hasunga said that by recognising the antiquities wealth and traditions of more than 128 tribes in the country, the festival will widen the scale of tourism goods and promote the growth of cultural tourism, a move that will increase competitiveness of the country in the tourism markets globally.
The deputy minister, however, named six regions in which the festival will take place, where at national level it will be held in Dodoma from September 15 to 22 this year while in Zanzibar the celebrations are scheduled for September 23 to 29 this year.
For Dar es Salaam and Mwanza, the festival will be held on September 29 to October 6 this year.
