Business clinic begins on Monday

By DAILY NEWS Reporter

A SPECIAL business clinic to diagnose hurdles impeding business growth will be launched on Monday at the on-going Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair (DITF) that commenced yesterday.
The Permanent Secretary in the ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment, Prof Elisante Ole Gabriel said at the DITF taking place at Nyerere Grounds along Kilwa Road that business experts from higher learning institutions will be attending traders to diagnose business hurdles.

“Businesses is like a human being that grows or get ill so there is a need to establish special business clinic for traders to diagnose the problems and suggest treatments for healing,” he said.
He said various business and economics specialists from universities of Dar es Salaam and Dodoma will attend business people at various level to identify various problems hindering business growth and development.
He said businesses may collapse due to recessions, high taxation, high interest rates, excessive regulations, poor management decisions and insufficient marketing.
Other enemies that may attack and put businesses into the verge of collapse are inability to compete with other similar businesses, or a lack of interest from the public in the business’s offerings.
For example, inappropriate decisions have often being the cause for failure of many businesses that have been impacting on the company’s or institutions’ financial position.
Similarly, the inability to manage operation costs has been leading to the failure of most businesses particularly Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs).
The TanTrade Director General Mr Edwin Rutageruka said over 2,900 exhibitors have already been registered for the 42nd edition of the DITF) that began yesterday.
He said small and medium-sized entrepreneurs are encouraged to participate in the trade fair to showcase their products and services through the international business forum.
