DAR ES SALAAM Stock Exchange's (DSE) market turnover for April decreased by 36 per cent to 11.49bn/- from the 17.98bn/- posted in the preceding month.
According to Zan Securities monthly
report, top traded equities that dominated the market share were
Tanzania Breweries Company (TBL) with 57.23 percent, Tanzania Cigarette
Company (TCC) with 17.66 percent, National Microfinance Bank (NMB) with
11.21 percent and CRDB Bank PLC with 9.21 percent.
Top gainers in the month regarding share
price appreciation were Tanga Portland Cement Company (TPCC) which
appreciated by 3.45 percent to close at 2,700/-, NMB's 2.50 percent to
2,050/- and TBL that appreciated by 1.52 percent, closing at 14,000/-.
However, Swissport (SWISS), TOL Gasses
Ltd (TOL), TCC and Tanga Cement Company Ltd (TCCL) emerged as April's
top losers with the highest depreciation.
SWISS share price depreciated by 6.71
percent to close the month at 6,810/- per share, while TOL, TCC and TCCL
depreciated by 1.72 percent closing at 855/- per share, 0.99 percent
closing at 12,000/- per share, and 0.54 percent closing at 1,850/- per
share, respectively.
Total market capitalization increased by
5.19 per cent, closing the month under review at 22.41tri/- while
Domestic market capitalization increased by 0.55 per cent to 8.52tri/-.
Comparatively, key benchmark indices were in the green territory to
close off April.
The Tanzania Share Index (TSI) capped at
3,992.77points, higher by 0.52 per cent compared with 3,972.06 points
posted in March. The All Share Index (DSEI) closed at 2,559.31 points,
up by 5.23 per cent compared with the previous month, closing at
2,432.04 points. Similarly, the three sector indices closed off the
month of April in the green and red territory.
Industrial and Allied closed at 5,314.70
points up by 0.65 per cent compared to previous month's 5,280.21
points. Banks, Finance and Investment Index experienced an increase,
closing at 2,671.87 points up by 1.08 per cent compared to previous
month's 2,643.20 points.
Commercial Services Sector experienced a
5.22 per cent decrease to close off the month of April at 3,727.22
points compared to last month's closing at 3,932.32 points.
