PRESIDENT John Magufuli has suspended the appointment of Director General Tanzania Communications Regulatory Authority (TCRA), Dr Ally Yahya Simba and dissolved the body of directors effective today.
President Magufuli suspended Dr Ally
Simba due to failure of proper supervision of the implementation of
Telecommunications Traffic Monitoring System (TTMS) and caused the
country to lose some 400bn/- on revenues per year.
According to press release from State
House, the President has also directed the Minister for Communication,
Science and Technology, Prof Makame Mbarawa to appoint TCRA Acting
Director General immediately.
