To achieve this, Mzumbe University
Acting Vice Chancellor, Prof Josephat Itika, said that the two
institutions will continue working together in developing more new
degree programmes as a way of solving prevailing challenges. He said
this during the inauguration of the second cohort of Master of Science
in Applied REGION113081Economic and Business.
The programme is run at Mzumbe
University, Dar es Salaam Campus College in partnership with CMR
University, Bangalore. “We will continue working with CMR University in
pursuing development for our countries,” he said.
The programme aims at preparing
professionals who would work in private companies, industries, and
government institutions. The two varsities have agreed to exchange
students, lecturers and do research jointly. Indian High Commissioner,
Mr Sandeep Arya said cooperating in areas of human resource development
was of paramount importance for both countries.
He said through that cooperation, the
two countries were learning from each other and share experience on
various matters pertaining to development. “This is crucial for both
institutions and our countries generally,” the High Commissioner said.
He noted that there was still a need for human resource development for
countries like Tanzania to achieve fast development.
However, he cautioned on the need to
have appropriate approaches and objectives when teaching students to
have desirable achievements. The second cohort will have 35 students
compared to the earlier one which had 18.
“The programme is gaining popularity,”
she said. The CMR University Vice Chancellor, Dr Anand Joshi said it was
time to extend the collaboration between the two in the area of
Information and Communication Technology, management and research.
