PRESIDENT John Magufuli is expected to meet business community and investors in Dar es Salaam on Friday. This will be his first such meeting since he became president.
According to a statement issued by the
Tanzania National Business Council (TNBC) in Dar es Salaam, the
president wants to familiarise himself with business people and
investors and see how best he can work with them to achieve development
objectives in the next five years.
“The president will also have ample time
to hear from the private sector on how they will work with the fifth
phase government in pushing economic growth,” he said.
The Council’s Executive Secretary, Mr
Raymond Mbilinyi, said in a statement that the president wants to talk
and discuss with business community so as to have a shared vision on how
to achieve anticipated progress.
“As a principal facilitator in creating
conducive business and investment climate in Tanzania, the government
wants to know challenges facing them and act,” Mr Mbilinyi noted. He
said the 5th phase government strongly believes in Public Private
Partnership (PPP) in creating citizen’s welfare.
In his maiden speech in Parliament,
President Magufuli explained the intention of his government to work
closely with businesspeople and investors in the country. TNBC provides a
forum for the private and public sectors in Tanzania to discuss how
best the two sides can work together to achieve development.
