Dr Budeba made the remarks in Dar es
Salaam during a launching ceremony of Polish aid project for
Parasitology Laboratory refurbishment for Livestock Training Agency
(LITA) campus of Temeke.
The project whose total cost was about
255,903,000/- for improving parasitology laboratories at Temeke and
Buhuri campuses and Mabuki and Kikulula centres. He said inadequate
livestock farmers’ knowledge and skills is one of the limiting factors
to the development of the livestock sector in the country.
“I urge graduating personnel from LITA
Campuses to be large and smallholder commercial farmers who will not
only create employment opportunities to others but also increase the
supply and availability of good livestock products,” he explained.
Dr Budeba said the government is
implementing the Tanzania Livestock Modernization Initiative by
strengthening this initiative and training facilities that will
contribute greatly in implementing this initiative and thus support
positive impact on livestock sector.
The representative for the government of
Poliand, Mr Segiusz Wolski, said he believes the project will help
produce professionals who will bring great success and positive
development to the livestock and fisheries sector in the country.
He said the efforts of improving
training facilities will reduce more competent graduates, through Warsaw
University of Life Sciences will go a step further to assist the
remaining four campuses of Tengeru, Mpwapwa, Madaba and Kikulula.
