Ukawa national co-chairmen announced yesterday that their plans are to nominate candidates for all 239 constituencies and give CCM nominees run for their money.

Dar es Salaam. No CCM candidate will win parliamentary seat unopposed in the October General Election because the coalition of four opposition parties, Ukawa, is set to nominate a candidate to vie for Bunge in every constituency.
Ukawa national co-chairmen announced yesterday that their plans are to nominate candidates for all 239 constituencies and give CCM nominees run for their money.
In the 2010 General Election CCM won in 10 constituencies without conducting a campaign after opposition parties failed to nominate candidates.
Prime Minister Mizengo Pinda, House Speaker Anne Makinda, Deputy Speaker Job Ndugai, Works Minister John Magufuli, former Land, Housing and Human Settlement Development minister Anna Tibaijuka and his successor in the ministry Mr William Lukuvi are some of CCM MPs who won their seats unopposed.
Ukawa leaders told journalists yesterday that they have already agreed on who should stand where in 227 constituencies. The coalitioon comprises Chadema, CUF, NCCR-Mageuzi and NLD. They have agreed to support a single candidate in every elective post, including the one they will pick to stand for the presidency. There is still no consensus in 12 constituencies. The chairman of NCCR-Mageuzi and co-chair of Ukawa, Mr James Mbatia, told journalists yesterday that negotiations are ongoing on the remaining 12 constituencies. “But that doesn’t mean we are at war, or there is a big problem within Ukawa. If we have managed to accomplish this arduous task by 92 per cent, we will get done with the remaining part.
