Dar es Salaam. Prime Minister Mizengo Pinda
admitted yesterday that corruption and massive embezzlement of public
resources was one of serious problems which the government is struggling
to deal with.
Premier Pinda said corruption has remained a
challenge despite government’s various efforts including strengthening
of anti-graft bodies such as Prevention and Combating Corruption Bureau
(PCCB).

diocese for Moravian Church in Dar es Salaam, he said for the last year
alone, total of 3,311 corruption cases were recorded, among them,
investigation were completed for only 528 cases and investigation were
still ongoing for the remained 2,783 cases.
“Embezzlement of public resources is emerging as
another serious issue. We have examples of this in our municipalities
whereby resources were stolen through banks or public procurement,” he
said.
As the country heads towards the General Election,
Tanzanians should endeavour not to allow political and religious
differences not divide the country, appealed Mr Pinda.
He also expressed his dismay over attacks and
killings of people with albinism and called on churches and mosques to
speak out on the matter among their believers as back up government
efforts to end the vice.
He challenged the newly launched diocese to mould their youths so as they become decent and make refrain from drugs abuse.
