| | | | | Tanzania will receive €628 million from the European Commission over a six-year period (2014-2020).
The
funds are allocated under the 11th European Development Fund (11EDF),
and will be directed at the development of Tanzania’s general budget
support, energy, and agriculture.
Tanzania's Ambassador to BELUX
(Belgium and Luxemburg) and Mission to the European Union, Diodorus
Kamala, stated that cooperation between the EU and ACP countries is
taking place under the framework of the Cotonou Agreement of 2000, which
seeks to eradicate poverty and gradually integrate developing nations
into the world economy.
The Cotonou Agreement is a global
agreement designed to establish a comprehensive partnership based on
three complementary pillars: development cooperation, economic and trade
cooperation, and the political dimension.
Kamala stated that during the most
recent meeting between the EU and ACP countries, the ACP countries
discussed market access of agricultural commodities to Europe.
The currently allocated €628 Million
represents an increase from €600 Million previously allocated to
Tanzania in the previous 10 EDF’s. |
