Longhorn Publishers has appointed the
chief executive officer of 3Mice interactive Media Ltd, Mr Ali Husein,
to its board as part of the firm’s entry into the e-publishing market.
The
book publisher said Mr Husein would help them chart a “clear strategy
of leveraging on technology” to increase brand visibility.
“We
found the need to bring on board someone who has knowledge and
understanding of the digital media segment to help us take advantage of
it,” Longhorn managing director Musyoki Muli said in a statement.
DIGITAL TECHNOLOGY
3Mice
Ltd is one of the largest interactive agencies in the country. It
specialises in brand marketing through digital media technology.
Longhorn
has also created a marketing and communication department — hived off
from the former research and business development department.
This, Mr Musyoki said, is a response to book publishing dynamics.
The
firm, best known for textbooks, has been investing in electronic
learning materials to benefit from the government’s plan to equip all
school children with laptop computers.
Since listing on
the Nairobi Securities Exchange, Longhorn has adopted an aggressive
growth strategy, which has included acquisition of competing firms,
among them Malkiat Singh’s Dhillon Publishers in Kenya and Delah
Publishers in Tanzania.
