President Barack Obama on Saturday night took shots at Birthers and conservative TV station Fox News during his well received speech at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner.
Mr
Obama who has been plagued by the Kenya connection perpetuated by some
conservative quarters, started by congratulating Meb Keflezighi the
first American to win the Boston Marathon noting that it was the first
time an American has achieved the feat in 31 years.
“It’s only fair since a Kenyan has been president for the last six,” Mr Obama said.
The
birthers who are fringe theorists in the conservatives wing have
believed and continued to insist that Mr Obama was born in Kenya and is
illegally in office.
Turning to Fox News which has been friendly territory for the birthers, MrObama did not hold back
.
.
KOCH FAMILY
“Let’s
face it, Fox, you will miss me when I’m gone,” he said. “It will be
harder to convince the American people that Hillary was born in Kenya.”
He
also went after the Koch brothers Charles and David Koch who wield
immense political and financial influence in the United States and are
believed to be behind most of Obama’s woes with the birthers.
The
Koch family owns the second largest privately held company in the US.
‘’The Koch brothers bought a table here tonight, but as usual they used a
shadowy right-wing organisation as a front. Hello, Fox News!’’
President
Obama Obama also took shots at members of congress who have made his
White House stay complicated by putting up various legislative
roadblocks.
The White House correspondents dinner is an event held annually and is organised by the White House Correspondents Association.
