A 13-year-old school boy was hacked to death and his body dumped at a coffee plantation near a river in Rugucha village,Embu East sub-county.

The partly decomposed body of Master Alex Kinyua was found on Thursday morning bearing deep cuts in the head.

The class Eight pupil at Kiarimui Primary School was last seen last Friday evening before he left their home riding a bicycle.

Embu North Administration Police commandant Charles Machinji said his blood stained bicycle was found hidden in thick grass, while a bloodied panga suspected to have been used to slash the boy was found hidden in a nearby maize plantation.

Mavhinji said Kinyua is said to have visited the home of a 15-year old boy from the village who has since gone into hiding.

He added that the bloodied items were found near the missing boy’s home during police investigations.

"We found a hole at that home with flies buzzing. We suspect Kinyua could have been killed there then his body dumped in the coffee plantation," said Mr Machinji.

He said the body was removed and taken to Kyeni Mission Hospital mortuary for a post-mortem to establish the cause of death.

Mr Machinji said the motive behind the schoolboy's murder was unclear.

EX- CONVICT LYNCHED

He said they have commenced a man-hunt for the suspect and were confident of apprehending him soon.

Elsewhere, an ex-convict was lynched and his body set ablaze at Kavengero area of Kanyuambora, Embu North sub-county on Wednesday evening.

An angry mob descended on Julius Muriithi Ndwiga, 35, bet him up, slashed him with pangas then set him ablaze.

Area OCPD Peter Kimani said the deceased was a hardcore criminal who had been severally jailed in the past but always resumed criminal activities upon his release.

"Police arrived at the scene when the mob had already killed him. We are told that the residents got tired because he would continue stealing from them even after being released from prison," Mr Kimani said
