Bumbuli. The Bumbuli District Council in
Lushoto District plans to spend Sh24.18 billion on recurrent and
various development projects in the 2014/2015 financial year.

During the last financial year, the government approved Sh14.53 billion for recurrent and development.
Under the this year’s budget proposals, which were
approved by the Full Council Meeting in Bumbuli mid this week, Sh9.17
billion will be spent on development programmes, an increase of over
Sh6.00 billion compared to last financial year’s allocation.
Clarifying on the budget proposals, the acting
Director of the Council, Mr Lameck Butoto, said that the major sources
of revenue for the budget would the central government and development
partners.
Butoto mentioned the development projects that
have been scheduled for implementation in the next financial year as
including road and participatory forest Management projects

Others are HIV/AIDS projects to be implemented
under the TACAIDS, projects that would be implemented under Local
Government Capital Development Grant - LGCDG) and water projects to be
implemented under the National Rural Water Supply and Sanitation
Programme (NRWSSP).
Commenting on challenges that the council had
experienced during the first year of its existence, Butoto said that
delay in disbursement of project funds various development stakeholders
was major challenge that delayed completion of development project in
the council area.
He mentioned other challenges as including low
mobilization of the people for contributing materially and physically to
