DODOMA: Chief Justice Prof. Ibrahim Juma states that the deployment of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in courts has enabled the judiciary to provide citizen-centric justice services in the country.
He adds that ICT has also increased transparency in dispensing rights, as well as reducing case backlogs.
Justice Juma made these remarks during the event commemorating Law Week and Law Day at Chinangali ground in Dodoma on Thursday.
He notes that there is a need to improve the welfare of ICT experts in the country since their expertise is paving the way towards the 21st century. “These people are doing a great job in terms of facilitating court cases to move smoothly, unlike in the past when the procedure was lengthy,” he says.
He also commends the state for introducing e-government, saying it is playing a pivotal role in scaling up the exchange of information among different institutions.
Earlier, the Attorney General (AG) Dr. Eliezer Feleshi said that the provision of justice can only be achieved if stakeholders work together. “We aim to use the Office of Attorney General Management of Information System and Public Employees Management of Information System to assess the performance of government lawyers,” he says.
Again, the AG urged institutions not to derail the empowerment of criminal justice.
