Hard work earns Ardhi University graduate 25m/-

iddy mwema
HARD work pays! The common adage was proved this week after Ardhi University awarded the best student Mr Lwijiso Ngulwa with a total station worth 25m/- for surveying activities.

A total station is a state-ofart surveying equipment combination of Electromagnetic Distance Measuring Instrument and electronic theodolite used to measure horizontal and vertical angles as well as sloping.
In a joyful moment after he received the equipment during the prize award ceremony at the University grounds, Mr Ngulwa said his dream had now come true as he had always dreamt of employing himself.
“It is like a dream come true, I was thinking that after my studies, I become self-employed to open new jobs to other youths, hence reducing unemployment rate in our country,” he said in a jovial mood. Expounding further he said, he would use the equipment in measuring land to solve land disputes existing in the country because the disputes are the result of land that is not surveyed.
Mr Ngulwa was selected the best student after scoring 4.5 GPA in his three years at the university where he studied Bachelor of Science in Geomatics. He, however, encouraged other students to study hard so that they could help others and the society in general.
He added Tanzanian graduates with the best scores will compete as well in the global employment market. Earlier, Ardhi University Vice-Chancellor, Prof Idriss Mshoro said the awards were meant to encourage students to perform better in their studies to have the best surveyors and architectures in the country.
The VC also urged the students to be good representatives of the university and encourage their young brothers and sisters to study science subjects to fill the gap existing.
“We have a shortage of science students especially land surveyors and architecture, therefore, you should be good ambassadors out there and encourage your young brothers and sisters to love and take science subjects,” Prof Mshoro noted.
During the event, 104 students were awarded with prizes to acknowledge their academic efforts. Out of them 52 were females and 52 were males
