TANAPA to open 2nd gate to Ruaha wooing eclipse visitors

Tanzania National Parks Authority (TANAPA) is expecting to open the Ikoga Gate in Mbarali, Mbeya in a bid to allow more visitors to Ruaha National Park after witnessing solar eclipse.

The TANAPA announcement centered on allowing tourists to visit the park after witnessing the solar eclipse September 1 in Rujewa, Mbarali and Wanging’ombe, Njombe. The gate is expected to be opened on Thursday.
The Ikoga Gate, if opened, will increase the number of gates to Ruaha Park to two. The other entrance is Way Junction, which is the main gate, but far way from Mbarali.
TANAPA Public Relations Manager Pascal Shelutete said the opening of the gate would ease and woo local tourism around Ihefu plain.
Mbarali District Commissioner, Reuben Ndiza Mfune, calls for those who came to witness eclipse to also visit natural wonders in the district.
The best site for the solar eclipse in Rujewa is at Mpunga Relini area some 3.5 kilometers off the Dar es Salaam, Mbeya Highway. The eclipse will take place around 1000 am to 0100pm September 1, 2016.
