People heading to observe eclipse in Mbeya, Njombe

Some journalists aboard a special bus heading to Rujewa, Mbeya and Wanging’ombe, Njombe.
A GROUP of over 50 people led by Tanzania Tourist Board (TTB) departed today morning to witness solar eclipse in southern highlands.

The team, comprises bongo movies and music celebrities and journalists, heading some 700 kilometers from Dar es Salaam to Rujewa, Mbeya and Wanging’ombe, Njombe.
The Mbeya and Njombe Regional Commissioners have confirmed to witness the rare event that expected to turn into darkness the area by over 95 per cent. Rujewa and Wanging’ombe are 20 kilometres apart.
The music and movies celebrities within the country are among a group of over 50 people that will accompany Tanzania Tourist Board on the rare expedition.
TTB Principal Public Relation Officer Godfery Tengeneza said: “There are two best areas to witness the eclipse.”
The rare event, which this year is almost total eclipse, expects to last three hours starting at 10:00am to 0100pm and attract eclipse chasers around the world.
