BARCLAYS Bank opened a new state-of-the-art branch in Mwanza as it seeks to extend foothold in the mineral rich Lake Zone region.
Speaking at the opening, the Managing
Director of Barclays Bank Tanzania, Abdi Mohamed, said the opening of
the new branch meant that the bank could leverage on the social and
economic development of the city and the whole lake zone region.
“Barclays is fully committed to serving
the Tanzanian market and we are very optimistic about all the business
prospects that are available here,” he said. To date, there has been
substantial investment that has already been made to improve the way we
do business with our customers through improved technology as well as
our branch network”.

Limited Chief of Distribution for Barclays Africa and Kumaran Pather,
the Barclays Tanzania Retail Director, also attended the opening event.
“I have made the trip from South Africa
to Tanzania to meet our customers and to reassure them about Barclays’
commitment to Tanzania and Africa as whole and to partake in this
important branch opening in Mwanza,” Kumar commented.
Mr Pather added by commenting, “This is the first of two new and modern branches that we plan on opening this week.
On Thursday this week, we will open a new branch in the Dar City Mall.
We believe in helping our customers
prosper in all that they do, and by opening these new branches we would
be that much closer in helping them realize their financial goals”.
