Commission for Human Rights pledges to make life better for journalists

The journalists both from the ‘Daily News’ are Mr Robert Okanda emerged the Best Photographer – Print Award and scooped the top award, while Mr Peti Siyame was recognised for being among the top three nominees in the economy and business category.
Eighty-four journalists were picked as nominees of the Excellence in Journalism Awards Tanzania (EJAT) 2015 reflecting an increase of 31 nominees compared to 53 nominees picked for the 2014 awards.
The highlight of the evening was the presentation of the Lifetime Achievement Award which went to a veteran journalist and media specialist, Ms Rose Haji Mwalimu for her contribution to media and humanity.
The guest of honour of this annual event was the Commission for Human Rights and Good Governance Chairperson, Mr Tom Nyanduga, who encouraged more of such gatherings because they provided a fitting environment for the media fraternity to rub shoulders with media owners and government and talk about the challenges and opportunities.
Mr Nyanduga said that the commission was aware of the contribution that the media plays and the hurdles they go through and pledged the commission’s support to make their lives better
