Hakielimu unveils its education think tank

AN education advocacy Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), HakiElimu has launched its Think Tank with a call to expand the scope of researches in order to facilitate the government’s initiatives to improve the education sector.
The HakiElimu Executive Director, Mr John Kalage, said in Dar es Salaam that the Think Tank will be conducting researches on education, saying it will also advise HakiElimu on how best to take part in advocating for the standard of education.

“The Think Tank is in line with the government’s initiatives to uplift the education sector in the country,” said the HakiElimu Executive Director while unveiling ten members of the Think Tank.
The team is formed by prominent lecturers at the University of Dar es Salaam (UDSM), Prof Kitila Mkumbo, Abel Ishumi, Herme Mosha, Justinian Galabawa, Selemani Sumra, Martha Qorro, Mwajabu Possi, Akundaeli Mbise, Masalakulangwa Mabula and Elias Jengo.
Mr Kalage said the education sector is facing myriad of challenges which hinder the provision of better education, pointing out that education is an ideal method for speeding up development in any country.
“We therefore require comprehensive studies to provide accurate answers to address challenges facing the education sector,” he observed.
Mr Kalage pointed out that HakieElimu has been conducting researches in order to get accurate information on different challenges which hinders children to access better education and that the studies facilitate the NGO to prepare strategies on advocacy.
“Such studies have helped to introduce HakiElimu as a key stakeholder in the education sector in the country,” he said.
In her remarks, the Senior Official in the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training, Ms Joyce Sekimang’a, hailed the NGO for its initiatives in the education sector, saying it has facilitated the government’s efforts to improve education.
