Chief Secretary praises cable firm for bridging demand gap

The market for electric cables has increased significantly across the country perpetuated by the booming real estate industry and various on-going development projects.

 

The observation was made by Chief Secretary Ombeni Sefue during a recent meeting organised by Engineers Registration Board (ERB) in Dar es Salaam.

 

“The availability of East African Cables in the country will help reduce the problem of scarcity of electric cables that we now face,” he said.

 

He also advised them to promote their business vigorously so as to make sure contractors and other stakeholders know the quality of their products.

 

The Sales Executive of East African Cables, Said Shehondo, welcomed the advice and noted that the East African Cable is reputed for manufacturing high quality cables which meets international standards.

 

He said the range of products, which the company deals with include copper cables and conductors for domestic applications as well as industrial power applications and aluminium conductors and cables used for power transmission and distribution.

 

The company began its operations its operations in 1966 and currently serves the Great Lakes region. It has three manufacturing plants; two plants in Nairobi, Kenya and one in Dar es Salaam.

 

The Nairobi Stock Exchange-listed firm has invested over Ksh1.3 billion shillings in new machinery that is aimed at increasing productivity and introducing new products into the regional market.
